Kentokyocon 2013 loves to call the Clarion home.  With a spacious convention center and an awesome surprise they call the Fun Dome, we wouldn’t have it anywhere else for the first year.  The staff are wonderful people who are willing to “bend over backwards to make sure we have a fun time”.

AMV Contest

The entry period for the Kentokyocon AMV contest is now open!

Categories

  • Drama/Horror
  • Romance/Sentimental
  • Action/Adventure
  • Fun/Dance
  • Comedy
  • Trailer/Parody

Depending on the volume of entries in each category and time allotted for the event categories may or may not be separated into different prize categories.

Technical Standards

We have an array of video codecs and as such won’t have a problem playing most content, however there are exceptions (Please see What we Reject).  As for our preferences on the files you send our way, please read the What we Prefer section.

What we Prefer

  • Mp4 or Mov files encoded in either .h264 or MPEG2 format.
  • 200MB maximum.
  • Progressive/Non-Interlaced video.

 

Preferred Resolutions

We would prefer that you edit your content in the exact same resolution as your source which is likely one of the following.

  • 640×480 (4:3, Square Pixel)
  • 848×480 (16:9, Square Pixel)
  • 960×720 (4:3, Square Pixel)
  • 1280×720 (16:9, Square Pixel)
  • 720×480 (4:3, 0.9:1 Pixel Aspect Ratio)
  • 720×480 (16:9, 1.21:1 Pixel Aspect Ratio)

 

What we Reject

  • Any un-rendered files (WMM, .IMOVIEPROJECT, etc)
  • FLV, MKV, OGM, SWF, or 3GP files.
  • No video hosting links such as Youtube, Vimeo, etc.
  • Video resolution less than 640×360 (16:9) or 640×480 (4:3).
  • Poor audio quality.
  • Anything that requires an unusual amount of difficulty to work with.

 

Submission Rules

  • You may only submit up to 3 AMV’s for the contest.
  • All entries are to be sent to amv@bluegrassotaku.org
  • You must either have the file attached to your email, or supply a link for us download it. (Mediafire, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc)
  • The email should have your Name, your Alias, The title of your video, and the category you will be entering that video in.
  • Title your video as “Title of video_Name of creator_Date created”

 

All entries will be pre-screened by staff before being allowed into the competition in order to avoid inappropriate content being screened at the showing.  If you have any questions please email amv@bluegrassotaku.org and we will respond as soon as we can.

Staff an event with us!

Kentokyocon is looking for gophers and badge check helpers for next years events.  You heard that right “events” there is more than Kentokyocon next year.  We are looking for 20 helpers so space is limited.  A really small $6 staff fee will cover your staff shirt and full con access.

Kentokyocon 2013 T Shirt Contest

Hello everyone!  Bluegrass Otaku is holding a t shirt contest.  The shirt will be the Kentokyocon 2013 t shirt design.  You, the fans, get to create or choose the design.  Here are the regulations.

EDIT*  Our staff needs a shirt design too!  This design can only be blue on white or white on blue.  Rules 2, 4 and 5 apply.

  1. The shirt has to have Saya (our mascot) on it.
  2. Shirt needs to incorporate Kentucky or its culture somehow.
  3. At most 4 colors, at least 1.
  4. Please send in a high resolution image.  8 in wide by 12 in tall 300 dpi (dots per inch)
  5. If you include text it must only be “Kentokyocon 2013″ , “Lexington, KY” , and “September 6-8th” or “Sept 6-8th”

Give a description telling us a little bit about your submission.  (This is a front of shirt design.)

Have fun and be creative; our mascot is below for reference.  Submit your entry to BluegrassOtaku@gmail.com. the Full Color contest is due by April 19th a week before this year’s Mini-Con.  The Single Color Design is due April 1st.
